Kat Night aka 009 Night is a composer, performer, music producer, and sound designer whose audio artistry embodies a dangerous arsenal of creative and technical experience.
Known for her captivating vocal aesthetics, she harnesses the power of programmed controllers allowing her to transform sound and rhythm. This fusion of music and technology enhances the immersive aesthetic of her performances and redefines the boundaries of music-making, inviting audiences into a unique sonic landscape where human expression meets digital precision.
Night is a Founder and Member of F9 Studio, a multimedia company, where she is a performing artist and music producer as 009 Night for F9, and she dj’s as 009, where she creates music and sound for Games and Film & TV, and where she creates multimedia content for Panda ‘N’ Pickles.
She is a member of the The Society of Composers & Lyricists, BMI, the Alliance for Women Film Composers, AES, the Game Audio Network Guild, and the Production Music Association. She is affiliated with the Recording Academy, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, and the Wattis Scholarship Fund.
In 2021 Night won the AIAS Women In Scholarship for being an emerging Composer and Sound Designer for Video Games. She was mentored by Austin Wintory, and she attended the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards and Summit and the Game Developer’s Conference.
Night became a Grammy U mentee in the Fall of 2022 where she was mentored in surround audio by Michael Romanowski of Coast Mastering, which supplemented her studies in Dolby Atmos Surround Sound workflow and Ambisonics for Performance, Music, and Audio at SFCM.
She was chosen for a second time to be a Grammy U mentee in the Spring of 2023 where she was mentored by Brian “BT” Gibbs of Skyline Entertainment and Publishing, which complemented her studies in song writing, composition, and music producing at SFCM.
009 was the Sky Hi Grant recipient for 2023 for her complete artwork Mingle, an interactive media experience with multidisciplinary collaboration that showcased her ambisonic compositions and immersive multimedia designs. Mingle debuted in April 2023 at the Bowes Center for Performing Arts in Studio G.
Night graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2023 with a Bachelor of Music in Technology and Applied Composition. She studied with Taurin Barrera, Matt Levine, Marco d’Ambrosio, Robert Gatley, Lennie Moore, and Andrew Levin to tailor her TAC curriculum for composing and sound designing for media, music production, music technology, and immersive live performance.
009 Night became the TAC Studios Assistant shortly after graduation in 2023, where she was hired to assist Douglas McCausland, DM. She was promoted to TAC Studios Assistant Manager in early 2024, and in the fall she joined the Adjunct Faculty as Professor of Intro to Music Technology for Performers.
In 2024 Night was a Visiting Artist at SFCM for the Electronic Music Performance Practices class where she presented on immersive live performance with music technology and projection mapping. She was also a substitute Professor for Intro to Recording for Performers.
In 2025 Night was a panelist for multiple topics in TAC Forum, including the Demo Derby where she provided feedback on student compositions and music production techniques.
She taught the Logic Pro X Music Production Intensive at the San Francisco Film School in 2025, where she received glowing reviews on sharing her knowledge, experience, and teaching style.
In addition to her responsibilities at SFCM, 009 Night is currently working on musical and audio visual projects with her husband Francis Night and freelancing with F9 Studio as a Composer, Sound Designer, and Post Production Engineer for Film and Games.
